Custom industrial bakeware — engineering drawings, tooling and production trays | Mackies Bakeware, Australia
Custom Bakeware Manufacturer · Since 1946
Designed & engineered in Australia, built to your specification

A long-established name in the Asia-Pacific baking industry, Mackies has built custom baking pans for commercial bakeries since 1946. We design and engineer every product in Australia and supply bakeries, food manufacturers and OEM partners across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, North America and beyond.

Why Custom

Why work with a custom bakeware manufacturer

Off-the-shelf baking pans rarely match the exact specifications a production line demands. Custom bakeware is built to your oven dimensions, product weights and throughput requirements — eliminating workarounds and maximising output. As a specialist manufacturer, Mackies works directly with your engineering and production teams to develop pans, trays, moulds and racks that integrate seamlessly into your bakery operations.

Product Range

Design & Validation

Engineered and proven before a single pan is made

Every custom project is modelled, analysed and validated up front — so the tooling we cut is right the first time, and the pans perform on your line.

CAD design & modelling

Full AutoCAD models that integrate with your line and other equipment suppliers, with weight and design validation before any steel is cut.

FEA analysis

Heat-transfer modelling and durability testing to prove bake performance and pan life under real production conditions.

Tooling & samples

Sample production validated for bake characteristics in your own facility, with on-site sign-off before mass production begins.

Mass production

Full runs manufactured exactly to the approved technical sign-off, on automated, validated processes for batch-to-batch consistency.

The Process

How a custom pan project runs

One team owns the project from first drawing to first bake.

1

Send your requirements

Drawings, oven and line specs, product weights and throughput. A stock die reference or a competitor pan sample works too.

2

Technical review — 24 hours

Our engineering team checks your requirements against the 530+ die library and coating systems.

3

Quote — a further 24–48 hours

Pricing, tooling path and lead time, laid out clearly.

4

Prototype & tooling

Existing die where possible, or custom tooling cut to spec — proven in a sample run before production.

5

Production

Your full pan set manufactured, coated in Australia under a Chemours™ licence, and warranty-backed.

Non-stick fluoropolymer coating on a commercial baking tray — Mackies Bakeware, Australia
Engineering, Tooling & Construction

530+ die shapes — chances are we already have your tooling

With over 530 existing die shapes and tooling configurations, much of what a bakery needs already exists. Where it doesn't, we design and cut custom tooling to your exact specification.

  • Custom dies engineered to your drawings, or reverse-engineered from a sample pan
  • Folded or seamless construction to suit the product, line and cleandown regime
  • Material gauges matched to the job — 0.55–0.75mm on pan sets, 0.70–1.2mm on bun trays
  • Assembly by projection welding, spot welding and riveting for strength and pan life
  • Substrates selected for even heat flow — high-tensile aluminised steel or hardened aluminium
  • Strap and system-tray design for automated lines, including Mecatherm compatibility
Non-stick coated commercial baking tray, backlit — Teflon-class fluoropolymer finish | Mackies Bakeware, Australia
Non-Stick Coating

Coated in Australia, under a Chemours™ licence

Teflon™-class fluoropolymer systems, applied in Australia by the only licensed Chemours industrial coating applicator in Australia and New Zealand — and recoatable rather than replaced.

  • MackEZE®Mackies' own Teflon™-class fluoropolymer, applied in a multi-step process for commercial baking.
  • PTFE (Teflon™)Industry-standard non-stick for pans, trays and general bakeware.
  • PFAHigher-performance oil-free release — around 3,500–4,000 releases, with superior chemical and heat resistance.
  • Hybrid (NS 6500)Premium three-coat fluoropolymer — 5,500–6,000 oil-free releases and excellent abrasion resistance.

Lasts 8–10× longer than standard glaze, FDA food-contact compliant for its intended use, and applied to Chemours quality standards with adhesion testing, thickness checks and full traceability. More on our coatings →

Industrial pan recoating in the spray booth — Mackies Bakeware, Australia
Pan Management & Support

Built to last — and managed for the long run

Mackies fluoropolymer coatings last 8–10× longer than standard glaze, and most production bakeries recoat on a 2–5 year cycle rather than replacing tooling.

Worn pans and trays are recoated in Teflon™ in Australia — staged in tranches around your baking schedule, and we actively recoat other manufacturers' bakeware. Beyond the pans themselves, we help you plan your bakeware:

  • Site audit & evaluation of your bakeware, on your floor
  • Training and support workshops for your production team
  • Product lifespan management — planned recoat and replacement scheduling

On a rolling annual cycle we audit your pan sets, finalise requirements with you and plan supply ahead of need — so your bakeware is scheduled, not scrambled.

Engineered for value

Lean, automated and validated production — a toast pan is handled by only a handful of people from raw coil to packed pallet. We compete on engineered value, not just price.

A global independent manufacturer

One of a small number of independent industrial bakeware manufacturers worldwide — designed and engineered in Australia and supplied to bakeries across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, North America and Europe.

Lifetime workmanship warranty

Every Mackies product carries a lifetime workmanship warranty — we stand behind our manufacturing and coating for the life of the product.

FAQ

Custom manufacturing questions

Do I need engineering drawings to get a quote?
No. Drawings help, but a stock die reference, a product weight and oven size, or even a competitor's pan sample are enough for our engineering team to start. Send what you have via request a quote.
Is there a minimum order for custom bakeware?
We work from prototype runs through to full production runs, and every project is quoted individually — technical review within 24 hours, quote within a further 24–48 hours.
Can you match or replace an existing pan from another supplier?
Yes. We regularly reverse-engineer tooling from a sample pan and can match another manufacturer's format, or recoat serviceable pans rather than replacing them.
Do you make pans for Mecatherm and other automated lines?
Yes — strapped pan systems and trays matched to your line pitch and depanning equipment, including pans built to suit Mecatherm and other automated lines.
What coating will my pans get?
Teflon™-grade fluoropolymer systems — MackEZE®, PTFE, PFA or our premium hybrid (NS 6500) depending on the application — applied in Australia under a Chemours™ licence. More on our coatings.
What warranty applies?
Every Mackies product comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty covering our manufacturing and coating for the life of the product.
